A Few Project Announcements

Over the next couple of weeks I have quite a few things planned, hoping to make frequent updates here to track the progress on a few things I’m working on.

I’m excited to announce, I’m finally throwing myself in the Ludum Dare ring.  I won’t be entering the main competition this time around, but will be working with a team using the new “team rules”.  I’m pretty excited about the opportunity to work with some of the people on the team, I’ve had experience with some and have heard great things about others.  All in all, it should be a pretty fun weekend.  I’d like to post some stuff here, but depending on what the team is planning, I might just end up posting a link to a team twitter feed or something similar.

Next, I’ve decided to side step some of the 3d experiments I’ve had plans of doing (they’re still planned, just going to be a while longer before they are posted).  I’ve shifted my focus to “fun”.  My goal over the next few months is to work on a game (or series of games, depending on ambition and progress) that are simple in mechanics / style but will focus on being fun and engaging.  I will be analyzing classic formulas, what I think is fun about them, and then posting them here for people to try and let me know how accurate they feel my assessments are.

In short this means, I’m going to be doing more game focused work for a while, and will hopefully be providing some playable demos as free time permits.  If anyone has any suggestions, I’m looking for classic games / formulas that you find rather boring.  I’ll try to see if I can find a way to make them fun and exciting (although I already have my first one planned out, I like to keep a backlog of things I can pull from).
