Day / Night Cycles

Quick midday update, I now have a day / night cycle that fades in and out.  There’s also a fancy journal / log that slides in from the left when you hit tab.  The rest of my time has been spent trying to correctly parameterize the world building algorithm.

The tricky part has been getting enough interesting variation, while still having consistently built worlds of arbitrary sizes.  Finding the correct ratios for object placement was particularly difficult for placing buildings (which are now working mostly correctly, including multiple rooms.

The buildings (and building ruins, which are partially implemented) try to place themselves around roads to simulate villages and towns.  When working with smaller worlds this just basically made it look like a tiny but jam packed zoo of buildings.  With a density so high it would be mostly game breaking (for the features I’m planning anyway) so it was a high priority to fix this before moving on to getting the characters up and running.
